One of the greatest points of stress and anxiety for a family in need is taking care of their littlest ones. Moms and dads in need mean children in need, and diapers, baby food, and children's clothing all carry hefty and repeating price tags. Families seeking support from EACM have expressed in surveys how hard it is, and how emotionally draining it can be, to be in a constant state of worry about providing for your child(ren).
At EACM, we want to support the whole family's journey to stability; so we're grateful for the funding and volunteer support that makes our Good Start for Kids program possible. The help we can provide families in crisis, especially when it comes to diapers, is just one way we are able to alleviate stress and express care.
In 2017 alone, 72 families were served through GSFK, with more than 210 visits. We served some 30 students from the Westport TAPP school. These families were helped with diapers, food and clothing for their infants and toddlers. Babies and toddlers with clean diapers, full stomachs and warm coats mean mom or dad can focus on next steps to get the whole family to a better place financially.
